Lost Labyrinth DX is an adventure game developed by DMA Design and published by Nintendo. The old one is programmed in BlitzBasic that is no longer developed by the company. It was later rewritten by PureBasic, then sold as extended edition (with many additional content including new monsters, spells, and skills). The latest version (lost labyrinth DX) is a totally rewritten game engine in C++ using SDL2 as main backend. The game is very similar to Myst and follows the story of Arthur, who is trapped by a magical maze. The main difference between Lost Labyrinth DX and its spiritual predecessor is the graphics and storyline. The graphics are very well done and offer many beautiful scenes, while the storyline is quite interesting, with lots of twists.
The plot is that Arthur is locked into a maze by mysterious beings who have captured the queen of his realm. To get out of the maze Arthur must use various magical abilities to solve the puzzles and reach the exit. Some of the characters include the evil Queen who want to gain control of Arthur's kingdom, the fairy Fiana, the wise wizard Gandalf and many other animals. To solve puzzles Arthur uses his magical powers like fire, ice, and electricity. He can also use some of his familiar objects like his sword, shield and magic wand to overcome his enemies.
Compared to the first Lost Labyrinth DX, this version offers many improvements. For one it is quite bigger and offers a better story line. It is also much more exciting and fun than its predecessors. This game is now a part of the franchise of Zelda. It is a good game to play for all ages and is suitable for children as well as adults. If you haven't played it yet, I suggest you go download it today. You will not regret it.
